Protein Supplements.



There seem to be a lot of stigmas about supplements. Maybe I should blame Essendon. Fortunately or unfortunately depending on which side of the fence you stand on Spartans don’t supply the “Essendon” supplements. What they do supply are safe, tested, research based products that help you get results.

The main protein supplement we sell at Spartans is WPI. WPI stands for Whey Protein Isolate, it is one of, if not the, most researched protein supplement on the market today. Who should take it? Anyone who wants to recover faster or build more muscle….which is pretty much everyone. Can it be incorporated into a weight loss protocol? Indeed it can and it will help you preserve your muscle and therefore your metabolism making the dieting process easier. How can one product build you up and lean you down at the same time? Well it can’t do it simultaneously, it all comes down to how you use it, how you train and your diet. WPI is protein in it’s purest form. It is super easily absorbed. It has a high leucine content which is the amino acid that triggers muscle repair. Basically if you take WPI while in a calorie deficit you will lose fat and the protein will help you keep your hard earned muscle. If you take WPI while in a calorie surplus rather than playing an anticatabolic role it can be used in an anabolic fashion and build muscle. If you want to maximise your results you SHOULD take WPI, this is not snake oil, it is refined food which works for you. What are the side effects? Ummmm none, it’s food, that’s like asking what are the side effects of a chicken breast. Shouldn’t I focus on my diet before buying a supplement? The studies done on WPI are done without dietary controls, they are often done on college students, therefore we can conclude protein works even in conjunction with a college students diet……have you seen what they eat! In all seriousness you will make better gains with a good diet, but you will make better progress again if you add in the protein supplement. Me personally I work hard, I want to make progress. I take WPI.
